The image was made in the famous Blue Mosque in Istanbul. It was an early experiment in long exposure camerawork and figures in sacred spaces. The frame, designed by Gottlieb was also an experiment in artifact protection, based on Riker cases, commonly used to preserve natural history specimens. The artist holds a design patent on the frame.
