ARTIST STATEMENT

Working with glass fascinates and challenges me; it’s like painting a canvas that I bring into three-dimensional form.

All of my sculptures are individually crafted, fired, and hand-finished in my workshop near Charlotte, North Carolina. Through more than a decade of self-directed practice, I’ve developed techniques for creating intricate sculptures that capture light, color and movement, balancing fragility with strength.

Each sculpture is meticulously crafted piece by piece and layer by layer, transforming flat sheets of glass into fluid forms. I explore the relationship between concept and construction, using vivid colors, rich textures, and hand-formed shapes. Every distinctive sculpture is a result of imagination and intention, a process of bringing static material into luminous works of art.

ARTIST BIO

Elijah Kell is a glass artist living in the Lake Norman community of Mooresville, North Carolina. His passion for art began in elementary school, where it became a creative refuge from his academic challenges.

At the age of ten, he encountered glass for the first time, sparking a deep connection that has since defined his artistic journey and career. As a dyslexic, Elijah finds profound meaning in visual storytelling, using color, texture, and form to bring his ideas to life.

Elijah’s work is represented by several galleries in North Carolina, and his collectors and commissioned works span the region, nation, and beyond.

Outside the studio, he is committed to giving back as an avid supporter of Arts for Life, a North Carolina nonprofit that inspires courage through creativity for pediatric patients in hospitals and clinics. He spends time at Levine Children’s Hospital every week, honored to witness the joy and healing power of art.
