ARTIST STATEMENT

Dorothy is a Memphis, TN artist who creates one-of-a-kind silver jewelry pieces. They are all art to wear! After 23 years of teaching Art in Memphis Dorothy decided to focus on creating jewelry full time. In other word, living the dream ! She trained as a printmaker with a focus on intaglio. Etching and engraving metal plates and seeing the ink pressed down into incised textures is when she first fell in love with moving metal. Since childhood she has made jewelry. At first using found objects and plants then moving on to precious metals, gemstones and vintage finds. Her time spent in the classroom influenced her need for ongoing education and has been fortunate to study with many jewelers that she admires.
