Emerging Artist Application 2025
WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2025!
The Franklin Street Arts Collective (FRANK Gallery) is excited to celebrate emerging artists in our community with the opportunity to join FRANK Gallery with a FREE one-year Emerging Artist Residency! This opportunity will run from September 2025 to August 2026.
“Our Emerging Artist Program gives promising young artists a unique opportunity to hone their artistic skills and learn the business behind art while being supported by a group of creative and professional local artists,” says Natalie Knox, the gallery director.
As a selected Emerging Artist, you will enjoy all of the benefits of being a Gallery Member at no cost to you!
Gallery Member Artist benefits include –
- Consistent Gallery Display – You are guaranteed to have one or more works in the gallery at all times, (more for jewelry, ceramics, and 3-D)
- Low Commission Rate – You will benefit from a low commission of 25%-35% on their sales made in the gallery (compared to 50% commission rate for guest artists)
- Featured Show – As a selected Emerging Artist, you will be featured in a group show alongside fellow member artists at the end of your residency.
In addition, you will experience our member artist requirements giving you the opportunity to engage with our local community and network with fellow member artists.
If selected, Emerging Artists will be required to –
- Commit to Gallery Sitting Shifts – You will be required to work 3-4 shifts in the gallery per month with fellow member artists. This is a 9-12 hour commitment a month for the duration of the residency. This is a great opportunity to interact with the public and network with fellow member artists on your working shift.
- Attend Monthly Meetings – You will have the opportunity to attend a monthly gallery member meeting (offered in-person at the gallery and virtually through zoom) with 20+ fellow member artists. During these meetings you will hear about upcoming events and vote on decisions relating to the running of the organization.
- Join A Gallery Committee – You will have the opportunity to better engage with the behind the scenes operations of the gallery by serving on a member committee, such as outreach/education, hospitality, installations, marketing, etc.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Applications will be juried by a committee of member artists at FRANK Gallery and the selected artist will be evaluated primarily on the strength of his or her submitted artwork.
The residency will last for one year from September 2025 to August 2026. Applicants must be from 20 to 35 years old and reside in the Triangle area during the year of their residency. Individuals from groups underrepresented in visual arts organizations are encouraged to apply. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION & REQUIREMENTS
Applications will be accepted until July 15, 2025 via the Google form below. No applications will be accepted by mail or email. In this application, please be prepared to include:
- Basic Contact Information– Your website address, primary phone number, e-mail address, mailing address, and date of birth.
- Artist Statement of 200 words or less.
- Artist Bio of 200 words or less.
- Artwork Images – At least 5 but no more than 10 professional quality digital images.
- CV Document (one page maximum)
