FRANK GALLERY CALL FOR PROVISIONAL MEMBERS

FRANK gallery will be accepting applications for new provisional members of the arts collective. The call is open to artists in the following medium: painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, original prints, and glass. Applicants will primarily be juried based on their artwork but emphasis will also be put on their potential contributions to the collective. Individuals from groups underrepresented in visual arts organizations are encouraged to apply. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
Who is FRANK?
FRANK is a contemporary fine art gallery featuring work of its member artists as well as exhibiting numerous other North Carolina artists. As a non-profit organization FRANK is enriching its community not only through exhibitions but also through events and education. FRANK member artist work in the gallery, curate and hang new exhibitions, host opening receptions, plan and organize educational and other community events and participate in fundraising events and initiatives.
What are FRANK member artists’ privileges?
Ability to always have their artwork shown in the gallery
Have a featured artist show every 18-24 months
Become part of tight FRANK community and participate in decision making about FRANK exhibitions, programs and community outreach
Opportunities to give art talks, organize workshops or other community educational events. For tuition based workshops instructors get to share proceeds with the gallery.
What are FRANK member artists’ responsibilities?
Work in the gallery eight hours each month
Serve on gallery committees
Pay monthly dues in the amount of $80 and commission of 35% on all sold artwork. Financial obligations are decided by a membership vote at the end of the year so there is a possibility that they will be lowered in December.
Donate a piece of art to FRANK annual Off The Wall fundraising event which will occur April 2019.
What does “provisional” mean?
Provisional members will be accepted for a period of six months starting from February of 2019. During this period, provisional members will have all privileges and responsibilities of a permanent member. If it is mutually desirable to transform provisional into permanent membership, the member will be charged a one-time initiation fee in the amount of $500. Installment payment is a possibility.
Applications will be accepted from November 1 to December 31, 2018, online via the application submission below. We will not accept mailed or emailed applications. Questions can be directed to email@example.com. Candidates will be notified by January 21, 2019. The provisional membership will run from February 1 to July 31, 2019.
Applicants are asked to submit:
Resume (no more than 2 pages)
Art statement/Artist Bio (250 words or less)
5-10 high quality photographs that best represent the type of work that they would be showing in the gallery—all work must be made within the last two years.
Cover letter describing your skills that you would be able to bring to the collective: web design, social media, fundraising or marketing skills, event management, catering etc.
A $10 application fee through PayPal after application submission
Instructions for submitting:
Using your email, set-up a login to use with EntryThingy. Once logged in fill in the fields, all marked with an * are mandatory fields.
Then click on the "Apply Now” button the right of the Call for Provisional Members.
Read over entry instructions and click to indicate that you understand and click to move on to next step.
Type or copy and paste your Artist Statement, Bio and Resume into the fields provided, click Submit.
Indicate which category you will be submitting your art for and fill out the subsequent fields
Click “add file” to input information on your image, click “choose file” find your image and then click “upload”. Once uploaded you will see the image on the next screen. Click “add file” to repeat the process. You will need to input at least 5 images and a maximum of 10.
You will then be prompted to pay via for the application fee and be redirected to PayPal. Continue through the PayPal prompts and then submit your application for submission.
