SUMMARY:Featured Artists Exhibit January-February 2026
DESCRIPTION:The gallery is featuring the work of member artists Bill McAllister\, Carroll Lassiter\, and Ley Killeya. \n\n\n\nOpening reception is on January 9\, 2026. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBill McAllister\n\n\n\nThis series features photographs from Bill’s 2009 trip to Siem Reap\, Cambodia\, which was one of the most memorable and productive photographic experiences of his life. Using infrared and pinhole cameras\, Bill captured images of 13th-century temples\, among other subjects. This group of photographs includes a mix of the historical architecture\, landscape\, and the people who inhabit this amazing country. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCarroll Lassiter\n\n\n\nThe landscapes Carroll paints are places where she feels most alive\, and many are tied to family roots in eastern North Carolina. She remembers creek fishing trips — first with her father and later with her son — as hours of contentment with bursts of excitement thrown in. Carroll’s oil paintings convey the physical and emotional essences of these specific places. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLey Killeya\n\n\n\nAcross cultures and traditions\, the songbird carries symbolic meaning. In Ley’s new paintings\, the songbird symbolizes her deeply felt connection with her sons\, who fill her with unending joy\, happiness\, and optimism. The limited primary palette in this collection closely ties the pieces together\, weaving them with threads of color that speak to and support one another\, representing the complex interpersonal fabric of our lives. The titles of individual pieces are drawn from poems and song lyrics.

SUMMARY:Featured Artists Exhibit February-April 2026
DESCRIPTION:The gallery is featuring the work of member artists Luna Lee Ray and Gordon Jameson\, as well as guest artist Ronan Peterson. \n\n\n\nOpening reception on February 27\, 2026 from 6 to 9 PM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLuna Lee Ray\n\n\n\nWater is Life. In this body of mixed media work\, Luna has drawn inspiration from her longstanding love of water in all of its forms: rain\, ocean\, river\, and mist. Her newest pieces call to mind the play of light through moisture in the air and the smell of the ground when dampened. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGordon Jameson\n\n\n\nGordon’s work is informed by divergent sources\, from the cult imagery of the Virgin Mary to multi-thousand-year-old Native American pictographs\, to current events and early Renaissance art. Through these sources\, he engages his paintings in a conversation that is intuitive\, cathartic\, and serendipitous. Gordon’s acrylic paintings develop over time\, sometimes months or years\, like a garden\, always alive and changing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRonan Peterson\n\n\n\nUsing red earthenware clay\, Ronan layers slips\, terra sigillatas\, and glazes\, with wax resist patterning\, to create highly decorated earthenware vessels. While his ceramics start with a functional basis\, they feature cartoon representations of compositions you might find lying on the forest floor\, crawling across the bottom of the ocean\, or hovering in space over the surface of a gas giant planet. Ronan hopes viewers and users get a sense that his pots could just slither away if they avert their gaze for too long.
