SUMMARY:Featured Artists Exhibit Jun/Aug 2024
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Donna Stubbs and her collaborative sculptures with Brent Arnold\, Theresa P-Tan and guest artists Sasha Bakaric and John Rosenthal. \n\n\n\nOpening reception is July 12. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDonna Stubbs\n\n\n\nDonna is inspired by found objects\, bold color\, vintage books\, street photography\, winter trees\, and so much more. She intuitively explores contradictions and associations between abstract shapes\, collage\, mark-making and painting. A close examination of her work reveals many textured layers of acrylic paint\, drawing marks\, vintage paper\, fabric and her photography. These accumulated materials represent a part of her own history and give the viewer a deeper sense of discovery.  \n\n\n\nMore Info & Work \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTheresa P-Tan\n\n\n\nWe like the way Theresa’s work freely moves from one medium to another. You’ll see paint\, graphite\, colored pencil collage and more working together in harmony. Her playful explorations in this exhibit come from her recent experiences in the Galápagos Islands. The results are wonderful landscape-like compositions that give you the perfect sense of the remote\, natural and mysterious beauty found in those isles. For Theresa\, these works also carry memories of her family and the area of the world where her people are from. \n\n\n\nMore Info & Work \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSasha Bakaric\n\n\n\nSasha’s inspiration comes from microscopic images of various cells and microorganisms – the basis of all life. She says she is intrigued by the dichotomy between the beauty of these images and the fears that people often have when faced with viruses or bacteria. “I love the idea of questioning our relationship with the micro world inside and around us.” As you look at Sashas beautiful work\, you can image how each one is the result of a biological process where its images and forms spontaneously develop. \n\n\n\nMore Info & Work \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJohn Rosenthal\n\n\n\nThe striking photography that John presents to us is both salutation and awe. He considers his landscape photographs to be salutations. “Camera in hand\, this is all I have to offer. The event before my eyes\, in its unboundedness\, is ultimately unknowable. It cannot be captured by a photograph\, but it can be saluted – the illusive stillness of its being.” To John\, the ocean is another matter. It is the Mother\, the Destroyer. To try to capture its power in a photograph is both absurd and tempting. \n\n\n\nMore Info & Work
