Charlie Dupee

Artist Statement
“The whitest black person I’ve ever met.” People have defined who I am since I was young. In my art, I define for myself what it means to be a queer, light-skin, black, white, multi-racial Maine-native in 2019 America. A meditation on color and experimentation of media, my art is me: one of a kind.

Artist Bio
I grew up with the pines of Maine. A product of public education, free lunch, and a single mother, I graduated from Colby College with a B.A in New Media Aesthetics: an interdisciplinary study of computer science, design, and fine art. After college, I worked for several years in the New York Ad Industry, before moving to Carrboro, NC, where I currently practice art.
