I find that wood turning offers unlimited creative opportunities. I attempt to produce unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that preserve the character of the wood while reflecting my personal sense of style and form. My aim as an artist is to reveal the natural beauty of the woods that I turn without obscuring the underlying characteristics of each particular type of wood.
I see wood as a canvas that I shape and embellish. To create pleasing pieces, I use the characteristics of each individual piece of wood to guide the form that I create during the turning process. I often apply surface treatments such as color, carving, or wood burning to complement and enhance the forms that I turn.
