FRANK:inFocus, a month long photography festival, invites the Chapel Hill and Carrboro community to engage with their community through the process and history of photography.
Barbara Tyroler, Chapel Hill native, photographer and member artist of FRANK Gallery, began FRANK:inFocus in 2012. Every year, FRANK:inFocus has organized events within the community that bridge the gap that often exists between artist and audience. The photograph has historically been a tool used to communicate information and an art to express thought. The events, whether through in-gallery tours with museum directors, historical lectures, or interactive programs, help the community to better understand this tool and art as it grows more prevalent in our visual culture,
Over the years, FRANK:inFocus has grown to be part of the larger CLICK! Triangle Photography Festival that also seeks to show the Triangle how photography impacts its own backyard. FRANK:inFocus is partnering with artists and professional specialists to host a wide array of events that intrigue and benefit multiple facets of the community. This year’s events will range in topic from early childhood education and development to revolutionary photographic processes. The events will include exhibitions featuring student, professional, and amateur work, artist lectures, and workshops to explore the rich history and limitless possibilities of photography.
The FRANK Gallery invites you to be a part of our month-long festival in hopes that you learn how the medium of photography expresses and fosters a vibrant community!
