Photography Portfolio Reviews (registration required)

Are you a new or an up-and-coming photographer who would like constructive critique of your images?

We’ll help you see your work with fresh eyes, providing suggestions (maybe even inspiration) for improvement. Sign up for a half-hour portfolio review with Barbara Tyroler, Peter Filene and/or Bill McCallister at FRANK Gallery in downtown Chapel Hill.

Bring 10-15 prints that have a cohesive style or theme. Or, second-best, display them in a single folder on your computer.

When:
FIRST SESSION: Sunday, Feb. 7, 2:00-4:00 P.M.

SECOND SESSION: Saturday, Feb. 13, 2:00-4:00 P.M.

Where:
FRANK Gallery, 109 Franklin St., Chapel Hill.

Cost:
$50 as a donation to the gallery, payable in advance by phone or in person at FRANK. Appointments required, please call the gallery during regular business hours to secure your 30 minute time.

Reviewers:
Bill McAllister has been involved in creating and teaching photography for over thirty years. He has taught at the Art Institute of Atlanta, Chowan College and the Art School in Carrboro. Bill was a fellow at the Michael Karolyi Memorial Institute in Vence, France, and is a longtime member of the Society for Photographic Education.

Barbara Tyroler uses fine-art photography in collaborative multi-media art projects that address social and cultural issues. With an M.F.A. in digital art and an M.Ed. in education, Tyroler taught at the University of Maryland and is now an independent photo consultant, offering workshops with Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies and Olli. She was one of the original founders of fotodc and the NC Triangle PhotoConsortium.

Peter Filene has been shooting on film for thirty years. His photography had been represented by galleries in Raleigh, Charlottesville and, most recently, Chapel Hill. He has also taught the history of photography at UNC as well as Duke’s Lifelong Learning Institute.
