Nerys Levy, January featured artist will present her lastest body of work - Snowdonia: The Welsh Heartland.
Thursday February 6 @ 6:00PM
FRANK member artist Nerys Levy was born and raised in Wales. Her first language is Welsh and she learned English when she was eight.
Last summer she went back to Snowdonia (Eryri) in north west Wales considered to be that country's heartland. There she stayed at the Pen-y Gwryd Hotel where Edmund Hillary and the British expedition had stayed as they trained for the 1953 ascent of Mt. Everest. Using the small mountaineers hotel as a base she drew and painted the Snowdon massif conscious of the fact that her grandfather, who was born in that region, had done the same decades before her. All the small paintings were done on site and the larger paintings were done in the studio based on her on-site sketches.
