Jillian Ludwig (Dickson), originally from Darien, Illinois graduated with a BFA in 2005 from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She was awarded a full tuition scholarship to Clemson University in SC, and received her MFA in 2007. Jillian has taught multiple art classes at the Art Institute of Austin, Texas State University, Baylor University, Clemson University, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Clemson Art Center, and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis as well as Elon University. Jillian moved to Lyon, France for a year to build her studio practice. Along with making work in her tiny studio apartment, she traveled, mostly throughout Western Europe. Jillian's work has been exhibited and published internationally. Recently she has exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris for the Drawing Now Showing, as well as Manifest drawing gallery in Cincinnati Ohio.
“The large charcoal drawings that will be on display are from the series "This or That." These large charcoal drawings examine extreme opposites. The hope is by juxtaposing these polarities together they appear far more similar than they do different. This concept is implemented for the artist both politically as well as personally.”
