I think of myself primarily as a craftsman but I do what I do with a sense of exploration. The long process to master the material and the challenge of finding ways to express tension and harmony, balance and discord always drives me to improvise and find new methods to work. I use fiber in several different ways, making both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional pieces, sometimes with color and sometimes just with whites. The challenge is different in each case but the forms are similar and all belong together and express the same striving for coherent simplicity, both playful and serene.
