My passion for woodworking began when I was a child, helping my grandfather in his shop. He patiently taught me to use the lathe to shape and sculpt wood. I carried these lessons with me as I experimented on m own, developing my skills over years of trial and error.
Wood is a demanding medium. It speaks to me, frequently telling me what it wants to be. I often begin a project only to change the change the design due to the woods’ insistence to become something else.
I love the textures, the colors and the smells of this medium. It is gratifying to produce a piece that speaks to me and to the public. When a person picks up a piece and just holds it, caresses it, feels it, I know I have produced something of value.
