Carroll Lassiter
Painting is a constant in my experience. Childhood memories of landscapes
in eastern North Carolina find their way into present work perhaps
stimulating an emotional/psychological resonance in the viewer. I wish
to delight the subconscious mind.
Still life subjects are well handled much used tools. I love the surprise of personality showing up. The oar series has come to me via family members: father, husband, son, and father-in-law. The objects become portraits of their owners.
Some of my favorite artists are Jim Dine, Wayne Thiebaud, Frederick Church, Thomas Eakins, and Winslow Homer.
I enjoy the solitude and focus of painting to my best edge.
Frames are welded steel, ground to a rough shiny finish.
