I have always experienced an internal dialogue between life and death. My paintings are an interpretation of this conversation, illustrating a continuous play of opposites on the cycle between life and death.
This visual dialogue is symbolized through the contrast between bold and calm color; energetic or subtle brushstroke, balance of dark and light; composition of ground and space; layering of color and motion.
The subject matter of my paintings is conceived from my drawing interpretations of flora, both in full bloom and dried. The final painted image becomes an individual and unique expression of organic lines and forms exaggerated, distorted and abstracted.
I find the external complexity of all natural elements to be symbolic of the strength of mind and spirit throughout the cycle of life and death
