Arianna Bara
My metalwork springs from a background in drawing and painting, and a fascination with line, texture and color. I am inspired by the natural world, and simple things such as the beauty of a curving vine, and the spiky hull of the sweet gum pod. As a result, my work is an expression of organic shapes and textural richness.
I enjoy the process of forming metal through application of heat and hammer. I work primarily in silver because of its simplicity and elegance, but often incorporate gold, freshwater pearls or hand-blown Venetian glass.
As in nature, no two pieces are exactly alike, and each piece of a “matched” pair is often slightly different by intention.
